Karate

Karate. Where do I start? Karate has become the center of our home here lately. Weston eats, sleeps and dreams about karate. He wants to be a ninja (right along side a doctor and a policeman) when he grows up. He hasn't even been in karate for that long but LOVES it and catches on really quickly! It has seriously been the best thing we have done for him.

After the twins were born we experienced some nasty behavior from Weston. When I say nasty, I mean nasty. All the sudden he wasn't following directions, breaking rules, and being bad at school-- it broke our hearts. It was for sure our biggest challenge yet as young parents. We tried everything from tough love to school counseling to positive reinforcement.

We tried to keep everything as normal as we could while I was in and out of the hospital and on bed rest for 10 weeks. In the end, it just proved to be too much for our Weston to handle. Just the mere change in having 2 babies really uprooted him and caused a whole bunch of little misbehavior's to happen.

Then, came karate. It was like a light bulb clicked for Weston. Little did he know that school, home and karate would all have the same rules. Karate has helped with discipline, self confidence, listening and respect. He loves, loves, loves it and loves his instructors.

We have seen a new and improved Weston through this whole ordeal. He is happy to go to school. He is happy to go to karate.

He just got his yellow belt yesterday and is just beaming from ear to ear.

(he had an allergic reaction to something right before karate and his eyes swelled huge, can you tell?)

Weston,

We love you so much. You are our oldest boy-- and we are so thankful for that. You are the sweetest older brother and love to help and lend a hand whenever possible. These last few months have been quite different for you and for our whole family. I think we finally got things figured out now. You are such a joy to be around and have the sweetest heart. Just want to let you know that mom and dad love you so much!
